WOW - What an incredible experience and worship expressiona that Sunday was. It was such a blessing from so many different perspectives. We did not feel rushed and there was such a great spirit of worship and celebration from all of you that I believe inspired the audience. They were very much engaged. Thanks so much to all of you for making this a great ending to our summer choir season. I was told we had 3 standing ovations during the evening - (All Glory to GOD). I would say I had at least five different groups/families, who had never heard of us ask about Hark Up. One of the band members had the same experience. Also here are some quotes from emails and comments people gave me.

(Feel free to click on an underlined name to send a quick email of appreciation for thier work with Hark Up)

  • "WOW was the hi-light of my summer playing" - HU Band member
  • "What a fabulous program everyone put on last night!!!!! It was high energy and fun as well as a great mix of band, choir and soloists. - Another outstanding program by Hark Up." Inactive Hark Up Choir Singer
  • " Regarding the Revelation Song -- It may have been the best we have ever sung it!! Hark Up Choir member
  • "Some of us in the choir think that WOW was our best performance of the summer! We had a great time and think that the audience really responded. Please let Sue Drenth know what a help she was for the choir; her great cues were a big reason why we did so well. In talking with audience members afterward, they said their favorite song was "Revelation Song". It felt like that was a pretty solid number from our point of view, as well. Also, we in the choir could see people giving a standing ovation before "Let Freedom Ring" even ended. Some family members of mine came that adamantly avoid church, and they seemed to honestly think that we did a good job. ;) I think a large part of that is due to how awesome and talented the band is....." Hark Up Choir Member
  • I would say the choir was very well prepared and thus were able to engage the audience and transfer their joy in the Lord. - Excellent job choir. -- And the Band is pretty awesome. Specail KUDOs go to Kris McKay who literally spends hours before every event putting music together, communicating with the band all the details.
  • Lynn Moran always goes the extra mile in help getting the choir music ready, the CDs ready to sell and communicates with the Choir. She put in a lot of time this week-- and right after having surgery!
  • Dave Ksycki, our drummer, filled in at the the last minute, spent the better part of two evening working through the music to get the correct drum fills, tempos, and grooves down in on all the songs. Dave did not miss a thing.
  • We had a number of people spend close to 12 full hours in Grand Haven doing the set up which included making a trip to Sprink Lake High School to get risers and platforms. Send them a note of thanks. Brad Fles, Tony Steenstra, Eric Palmbos, Keith Baker, and Mike Truskowski (the Spring Lake Band Director and our lead Trumpet player for the night).
  • We are very appreciative to the WOW team for asking us back each year. It is quite an honor. A short note from a few Hark Up participants thanking them for inviting us would be very appropriate. Carol Manting and her husband Peter are the leaders of the WOW committee.
  • We are also sadened to know that this was the last Hark Up event for Meredith McKay as she will be heading to Valparaiso University shortly to begin her freshman year of College. We wish her the best and God's grace in her next chapter of life.
  • It seems to be inevitable that when ever we sing at WOW something unusual happens. One year a HUGH flock of birds flew over right at the climax of one of the worship songs. One year very dense fog rolled in across the stage during another apex of a song. One year a beautiful display of Thunder and Lighting in the distance seemed to join in with our final song. --Last night it was told to me that during "Ain't It Good" the fountains came on, as if to join us in our worship of Almighty GOD. You can in fact see the fountians on in the back ground on one of the pictures from Sunday, see the link below.
  • One last Sad note - I was notified today that Char Nederveld's daughter Tammy Jo, age 31 died unexpectedly on July 27. She left a 9 year old son, Kalib, and her husband Nick as well as all of her extended family. Please remember her in your prayers. Char and Larry sing with us on and off and Char secured a large number of advertisers for our Christmas Show this last year. They are very dear to us at Hark Up.
